May 5–9, 2024 – Prof. ZHANG Yonghui, Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology paid a five-day visit to four Asian universities, advancing cooperation in medicine-engineering integration and high-level talent cultivation. The delegation visited the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), University of Malaya, Mahidol University, and Chulalongkorn University.

At NUS, VP Prof. ZHANG met with Vice Provost (Global Health) Prof. YEE Ying Phee and Associate Vice Provost Prof. Kah Hin CHAI and discussed the issues about further expansion of collaborations. Both parties emphasized joint effort to address aging populations through AI and health policy research, and enhanced student exchanges and research internships. The two universities renewed 3+1+1 engineering management training agreement.

Prof. ZHANG attended the 6th HUST-NUS Computer Science Young Scholars Forum, at which more than 60 researchers discussed the advancements in AI and data sciences.

At Nanyang Technological University, Prof. Wai Fong Boh, a vice president of the university, welcomed the HUST delegation and discussed potential cooperation in nurturing of optoelectronics talents and aging health research via medicine-humanities collaboration as well as inter-disciplinary projects at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication.

University of Malaya, one of the top ranked institutions in Malaysia, renewed its naval architecture lab partnership with HUST. The discussions focused on joint seed funding for aging health research and high-impact collaborative platforms.
